Calling all Volunteers!!! We need help!

The COVID-19 pandemic paused our operations. Now that the vaccine rollout has been implemented, hospitals and heart families are once again open to receiving donations. We need volunteers to act as a focus group to help us plan our care drives for September 2021- September 2022. If you are interested in providing feedback for us and helping us focus our projects, please send an email to danielslionheartfoundation@gmail.com or fill out the contact form below with a note that you are interested in being part of the focus group.

Who We Are

Daniel was born on July 14, 2018, with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. Basically, this means Daniel was born with half of his heart formed. He has had 7 surgeries and has spent over 124 days in the hospital.

This foundation was established by Daniel’s mom in his honor. This foundation is also in honor of Daniel’s older siblings David and Hannah, who have shown remarkable strength, faith, and love as they have fought alongside their brother.

At Daniel’s Lion Heart Foundation, we support families of children with congenital heart defects. You are not in this fight alone.

Fighting Congenital Heart Disease Together

The day parents receive their child's diagnosis, everything in their world changes. All of a sudden, they belong to this club of parents of medically fragile children. Daniel’s Lion Heart Foundation supports families of children with congenital heart defects. By supporting heart families, we hope we help caregivers feel more empowered in their journey. You are not in this alone! We fight together.

When you look at Daniel, you see a normal toddler. He runs and plays outside, and he loves baseball and jumping on the trampoline. Daniel adores his older brother and sister, and he has a smile that lights up any room. Despite all appearances to the contrary, though, Daniel is not a "normal" kid. He was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). He has fought hard to live, and we as his family have fought right beside him.

At Daniel's Lion Heart Foundation, the best way we can help heart warriors is by bringing their caregivers a little joy. The journey as a heart mom and heart dad can feel isolating. As your world shifts dramatically, the world around you doesn't.  We understand. We are here to help you feel more supported so that you can be the best advocate for your child in his journey.

Care Packages Delivered to Heart Families at Home

November 2019

When families are discharged from the hospital, the journey of caring for a heart warrior is only beginning. Caring for a medically fragile child is incredibly rewarding, but it is also exhausting, isolating, and overwhelming.

In November 2019, we sent out 50 care packages all over the nation to parents of heart warriors. The lovely ladies of the Texas District of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League donated items for the care packages. When you donate money or donate items, you support people with children both inpatient and at home.

40 Care Packages Delivered for Heart Families at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia

March 2020

One of our amazing volunteers sponsored a care package drive for heart families at CHOP, the hospital where her son with HLHS receives care.  She picked out care package items and raised funds through our website for 2-weeks. Daniel's Lion Heart Foundation used 100% of the funds she raised and purchased and shipped to her the care package items. She then assembled the care packages and delivered them to CHOP.

If you are interested in sponsoring a care package drive for heart families, please fill out a contact form below, or email us at danielslionheartfoundation@gmail.com. We would love to help you!

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Jessica, Heart Mom

I am writing to thank you for the care package you left by my son’s bed at CHOP.

[My son} was just two days old, and for me everything was extremely overwhelming and somewhat of a blur. I’m sure this is very common! It was such a lovely moment when I saw the bag you had left for us and the extremely thoughtful and generous pieces inside. I remember crying when I saw it because I felt so touched that a stranger wanted to show us such kindness in our moment of new heart parents.

We are truly grateful not just for the gifts, but for the special moment you gave us that day.

Thank you so much for doing what you do.

McKenzie and Ken, Heart Parents

I just wanted to take some time to thank you guys for the care package. Our son has HLHS and ASD. We have been in the hospital for 20 days.  It was such a pleasant surprise to receive the bag with all the goodies. It definitely brought A smile to my face in such a hard time. We can’t thank you guys enough!
